3 Reasons Why You Should Consider A First Look

Happy #WeddingWednesday Blue Rose Beauties! We have had the pleasure of capturing weddings for over two decades now and like a fine wine they just keep getting better with time! Weddings have been perfected in ways that maximize intimacy and simplify the celebration timeline and doing a First Look is a magnificent & modern example of the process evolving into perfection.

A First Look is a pre-arranged moment before the ceremony where the couple get to see each other for the first time in a private place, away from family and friends. This creates the perfect environment for us as photographers to capture that moment- just for them. They are becoming immensely popular and we want to share our top 3 reasons why you might want to consider it for your celebration!

1. Savor Every Second

We want you to live in the moment and be present with your guests. A First Look gives you the flexibility to get a lot of your portraits out of the way so you can get back to celebrating with those that you love most while also giving you more meaningful alone time as a couple on your wedding day. It is a win- win situation! You simply cannot beat the joy and excitement of that initial first glance, shared between just the two of you.

2. Cool, Calm & Collected

Emotions expressed, without stress or worry is exactly what a First Look can be! Your wedding is one of the biggest and most significant days of your life and we have found that a lot of couples can experience some nerves just before the ceremony. Even those that thought they would be stoic suddenly get a little weak in the knees. However, time and time again we see the stress melt away just after the couple sees each other for the first time at their First Look. It is almost as if a weight is lifted off their shoulders and the rest of the wedding day activities become so much more enjoyable and carefree.

3. More Stunning Photos

As photographers we are bias, but this is our favorite reason for considering a First Look. We want to have every opportunity to capture exquisite photos for you and doing a First Look gives us significantly more time to do just that. Carving out this time also allows us to photograph you while your hair and makeup are at peak perfection and the tux is freshly pressed and looking sharp. Logistically speaking, doing a First Look will also give us more time for family and wedding party portraits after the ceremony capitalizing on that beautiful golden hour sun for any last outdoor candid photos. You will never regret taking extra care to ensure each moment is captured perfectly with no rushing involved.

We realize doing a First Look is not for everyone, but we hope you have a better understanding of the positive outcomes of spending a beautiful moment together with no pressure and no one watching. Very relaxed and genuine emotion will inspire photos that capture a historic moment in time, in an intentional and ultra-intimate fashion!

Lauren and Charles, Loretto Chapel

Welcome back to Blue Rose beauties! #WeddingWednesday is always a call for celebration here in our little corner of the internet, but you know our love for New Mexico weddings isn’t confined by a single day! How could it be, when every famed sunrise in our gorgeous state gives us new inspiration by being the first day of a couple’s new life together?!

The sun peeking up on the morning of Charles and Lauren’s new adventure was definitely no exception. We’re still eagerly awaiting the sunshine and blooms of a southwestern spring here, of course, but in the meantime, we’re cozying up to the fond memories of their intimate day. Held by the old-world architecture of the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, Lauren and Charles pledged their boundless love for each other in just each other’s company.

Now, we would die for a grand, 300-people, bustling celebration just as much as the next wedding lovers, but this elopement? Absolutely stole our hearts. Delicate gold detailing throughout the holy sanctuary complimented the lace appliqué of Lauren’s gown, shining alongside her newlywed glow. With Charles in a perfectly tailored suit of grey, the couple created a shimmering little universe to say their I Do’s in — one we’ll be dreaming of forever. And how could we not?! Being there to capture every moment from the sun’s first bean through the stained glass windows, to the last second when Lauren and Charles sped off into the distance in a sleek vintage town car was the honor of a lifetime.

So get comfy! We’re bringing you with us as we relive the unforgettable magic of this day — grab a cup of tea and you can too.

Jonathan And Rebbekah, Eldorado Hotel & Spa

Happy New Year! It’s officially 2020 AND #WeddingWednesday- coincidence? I think not! Blue Rose Beauties, you are going to want to get cozy because we have major heart eyes for our next couple on the blog and we know you will too. Rebbekah and Jonathan look like they were plucked right out of a bridal fashion magazine- they make this whole wedding thing look GOOD! And if you are on the hunt for some wedding inspiration that blends boho with moody and timeless elegance… look no further… this couple basically invented it. You don’t often see the words moody, and boho strung together, but that’s why we love this wedding so much. It is so refreshing to see couples fully embrace their personal style and weave it into their celebration. Picture it, impeccable desert mountain views and air plants galore, mixed with a moody-vintage reception vibe. This day was pure wedding day bliss and it’s safe to say we’re obsessed. The bride wore a breathtaking lace gown- the bodice donned the most beautiful and delicate adornments that accentuated her silhouette in the most lovely way. Rebbekah’s contagious smile lit up every photo captured, while her groom, dapper as one can possibly get, exuded a sense of profound admiration for her throughout the day. We could have taken 1 million photos and each and every one would have captured a moment worth treasuring. This beautiful couple, inside and out, made our job easy. They were up for taking the time to roam the grounds of Eldorado to let us capture their love in every nook imaginable and that’s a photographers dream after all! What wasn’t easy, was tailoring a selection of some of our favorite photos of their day for you to enjoy- so many to choose from! But alas, we’ve done it so please stay a while and start your decade off in the right direction. R+J if you are reading this, thank you for trusting us with your wedding day- it was an honor to be there and witness it all first hand. We are sending you many wishes for a lifetime of happiness + unrelenting joy. Cheers!
